Detectives from the Rivers state police
command today, February 9, at about 5.am stormed a criminal hideout in a slum
called Ibadan Waterfront in Port Harcourt, the state capital.
Ahmad
Muhammad, the police public relations officer said officials of the command
acted on a tip off that led to the arrest of four suspected criminals as well
as the recovery of five AK-47 rifles.
The
force spokesman said: “On Tuesday, February 9, 2016 at about 5.am, a
patriotic citizen reported to the police a suspicious movement at Ibadan
waterfront, Port Harcourt. A quick response on the information by combine teams
of police led to the arrest of four suspects namely; Francis Anderson 38 years,
Gift David 18 years, Richard Toria ,23 year and a lady, Barikwa Godspower, 32
years.”
The
command recovered from the suspects five AK-47 rifles, six magazines and 120
rounds of 7.62mm live ammunition.
Other
items recovered include two Toyota camry cars with registration numbers MUS 583
DF and SMK 577 BZ. He said the suspects are currently undergoing
Interrogations.
In
a related development, residents
of Ojo and Badagry in Lagos state were thrown into a state of panic following a
letter reportedly written to them by a dreaded armed robbery gang
known as One Million Boys in the area. The letter was written to the residents
in retaliation for the arrest of some of their gang members after an operation
in the area.
Also,
a 32 year old pastor, Titus Onwuchekwa, who hails from Umuahia, Abia statewas
paraded alongside one Felix Osas, a suspected robber who sold a stolen car to
the pastor.
