LG Watch Urbane is now going for just $199.99

The original LG Watch Urbane can now be yours for a lot less than you might expect given its initial launch price of $349. The smartwatch is normally being sold for around $250-260 these days, but an eBay deal currently going on will let you have one for just $199.99.

The device you're buying is brand new, and it comes with US warranty. It ships anywhere in the US, and retail tax is only charged in New Jersey. Two color versions are up for grabs, gold with brown strap and silver with black strap.
The Watch Urbane was announced in February of last year, as the more upscale version of the G Watch R. It runs Android Wear, has a round touchscreen, and is IP67 certified for water and dust resistance.

Now The Sony Xperia C5 Ultra is Receiving Android 5.1 Lollipop Update.

Just two days ago Sony surprised us by releasing the update to Android 5.1 Lollipop for the Xperia C4smartphone. This was unexpected because previously the Japanese company said this device would jump from Android 5.0 straight to Android 6.0 Marshmallow, with no 5.1 update planned in between.
And today it's time for a new handset to get the exact same treatment. According to Sony, the Xperia C5 Ultra was also supposed to go directly to Marshmallow. Yet an update to Android 5.1 for it is now rolling out nevertheless.
In this case the new release is being sent to all the variants of the C5 Ultra, regardless of where they've been sold. When it comes to model numbers, that's the single-SIM E5553 and E5506, as well as the dual-SIM E5533 and E5563.
Obviously though, as this is a staged rollout, you could need to wait a few days before it hits every device out there. If you own the single-SIM Xperia C5 Ultra, then after applying the update you will be on build number 29.1.A.0.87, while for the C5 Ultra Dual it's 29.1.B.0.87.
Hopefully the release of these Android 5.1 updates won't delay the upcoming rollout of Android 6.0 Marshmallow for these phones.

New Phones Of The Week

This week we got phones ranging from 4.5" to 5.5", each of them ranking high on feature and low on price. Xiaomi kicked things off with the Redmi 3, a phone that barely crosses the $100 mark, but brings an all-metal body, a 5" display, octa-core chipset and a surprisingly big4,100mAh battery for its 8.5mm of thickness.

A few days later the company launched the Xiaomi Redmi Note 3... no, not this onethis one. The 5.5" phablet aimed at the international market and swaps the Helio chipset for a Snapdragon 650 and upgrades the camera to 16MP along the way.

On the other end of the size scale is the Samsung Galaxy J1 (2016), which tiptoed into official status. It has a 4.5" screen (Super AMOLED), a quad-core chipset and a 5MP camera. Its official price tag of $135 is $10-$20 above what can be found with a bit of shopping.

The Lenovo Lemon 3 competes with the Redmi 3 with a 5" screen (with a higher resolution, 1080p) and a similar just-over-$100 price tag. It has a 13MP camera and the same Snapdragon 616 chipset.

The Asus Live is another 5-incher. It's heading to Brazil where tech gets a hefty markup. The phone features a 720p display, 8MP camera, two SIM slots and a built-in digital TV tunner.

Motorola Moto G (2nd gen) now available for $99 in the US

The Motorola Moto G (2nd gen), that's the 2014 model, got an alluring price cut – it is now just $99. The deal was available on the official Motorola site, but unfortunately it's out of stock now.

Good news, Best Buy still has units, That's $99 with free shipping for the 8GB Moto G (2nd gen), available in Black only. It's compatible with AT&T, T-Mobile and other GSM carriers in the US (so no Verizon or Sprint).
The 3rd gen model is $180, it brings a 64-bit chipset and a 1080p video camera. However the 2nd gen model has stereo speakers and will be upgraded to Android 6.0 Marshmallow too. The savings are pretty significant too.

Samsung Galaxy S7, S7 edge and S7 edge+ to launch simultaneously

Samsung is definitely no stranger to showmanship, as evident by its grand unveiling events. However, those are usually reserved for its top of the line models, like the annual Galaxy S and Note editions. The rest of the OEM's lineup typically gets a formal announcement as well, but it seems the Korean giant has decided to skip the formalities with the new 2016 edition Galaxy J1.
The phone went from leaks and renders, straight to sales as it's now available at a number of electronic stores in Dubai. On the plus side, this surprise arrival does eliminate the need for any more speculation regarding the handset's specs and price tag.
The new Galaxy J1 retains the budget-friendly nature of its predecessor. It is equipped with a 4.5-inch display, with a resolution of only 480 x 800 pixels, but still using Super AMOLED technology.
Running the show is a quad-core chipset, clocked at 1.3 GHz, probably the Samsung Exynos 3475 SoC. Memory is set at 1GB and there are 8GB of onboard storage. The camera setup of the 2016 J1 consists of a 5MP main shooter and a 2MP front one, just like its predecessor.J1 as well, but only if you spring for the J1 4G or J1 Ace.
Powering the show is a 2,050 mAh battery. The new Galaxy J1 also comes with 4G connectivity in its base version – a feature you could get with the old

Speaking of which, while a bit more powerful, the new J1 2016 comes quite close to what the latter J1 Ace has to offer. The local price for the J1 2016 is AED 499, or around $135 and the J1 Ace can be found for $10 to $20 less. So, if you have your sight set on one of them, be sure to shop around for offers on either handset, as you could end up saving even more.
Thanks, don kennie for sending this in.
